What 6 Years of Entrepreneurship has Taught Me

What 6 Years of Entrepreneurship has Taught Me

This is to all of you who are on your own entrepreneurship journey or still considering it as a possibility but haven’t yet started.

Everybody has to start somewhere. It’s OK to start small and not to have everything figured out right away. I certainly didn’t - even though I had done tons of research beforehand, I still learn new things every day. We learn best in action, but we will never get there unless we take the initiative. So when beginning anything new, it’s important to start, learn, and continue to do better.

Nothing ever goes to plan - and that will bring on new opportunities! There are times when you feel as if nothing’s going your way, but those moments also present new possibilities. For example, during the pandemic when all sales events were cancelled, right at the beginning of my entrepreneurship, it felt like the end to my business. But it also opened a door to completely new business opportunities - and has since led to more flourishing partnerships.

Building a business is hard work and nobody will ever tell you otherwise. I work crazy hours during the busiest seasons and it can get overwhelming sometimes. But you have to keep the right mindset if you want to grow and succeed. I love my job and most of the time it doesn’t even feel like work! But it takes a lot of time and dedication.

Connecting with people is essential, for those connections will become your most valuable asset. Building connections with other like minded people will open up possibilities you couldn’t have imagined. Some of my business partners today are the same businesses that I’ve loved since I was a kid!

Your most important competition is with your past self. There’s no need to be constantly comparing yourself with others. Instead, focus on your own path. When you feel like you aren’t making any progress, take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come.

Here are some thoughts of what entrepreneurship has taught me that I wanted to share with you as we celebrate our 6th Birthday!
